Survey Shows UK Gamblers' Expectations from Online Casinos 25 May 2006 A British software provider, Prime Table Games, recently commissioned a survey that questioned what the English gambling public expected from online casinos and the Gambling Commission. The results of the survey showed that the gambling public in the United Kingdom has very strong and clear-cut expectations from the online casinos and they expect the UK Gambling Commission to play a strong role in helping online casinos meet these demands before the Gambling Act comes into effect in 2007. The British gambling public, for example, overwhelmingly supported the idea that online casinos should be more forthcoming with information about their sites. 73% of gamblers especially wanted to know whether online casinos were run by third-party service providers. In addition, 30% of those questioned felt that gambling brands should not outsource their online operations. In short, English gamblers are insisting that they remain aware of who is behind the running of the online casinos so as to avoid nasty surprises. The survey showed that the gambling public expects the Gambling Commission to take an active part in checking the licensing and regulation aspects of online casinos. The first legal, British run online casinos are due to appear on the gambling scene when the Act comes into force in late 2007. |
