Washington State Cracking Down on Gambling Literature 13 Jul 2006 Gamblers in Washington State will be deprived of their gambling reading material as a result of the new anti online gambling laws passed early in June. While the United States prides itself on liberty and freedom for all, it has found it necessary to censor and ban gambling related magazines and to stop their publication effective immediately. Subscribers to the magazines have already received letters from the editors informing them that they can unfortunately not continue to provide their readers with gambling-related reading material. The magazines are "Casino Player" - a monthly review of U.S. casinos and hotels - and "Strictly Slots" - a guide to one-armed bandits, video poker and other mechanized means of gambling. The move to ban these magazines is part of a superior plan by the state to ban and curb all online gambling activity. While placing bets online is against the law, the state authorities have also decided that writing about internet gambling in a way that's promotional is aiding and abetting an illegal industry. Washington State has recently pushed forward a law which makes online gambling a felony and which can be punished by law. The state authorities had stressed that they will not be going after the little guy, but rather the organizers. However, when the 'little guy' can no longer read his favorite magazine because of these laws, then it has definitely affected him. |
